Max

Max ... came to us from Lativia (just East of Russia) finally at the age of 16 weeks.  He flew over 6,300 miles to begin his life in America!  What a flight he had ... from Lativia to Frankfort, Germany to Denver, CO.  You think that ocean flight is long for an adult, imagine what it was like for him ... in a darn crate.  Poor guy!  It was love at first sight ... I was hoping his excitement was for me but unfortuntely it was for the grassy area outside the airport to relieve himself.  He was soon up in my face with slobbery kisses and sat with me for hours in the passenger seat (or should I say, he let me sit with him).  He is quite the lover!  We then drove about 15 hours home across Kansas (oh how boring that can be) and most of Missouri, so he could meet everyone else!

Max is so laidback and you would never have known that he was the new kid on the block, other than being a lot taller than the others!  It didn't take him long to become one of the gang!  Max is the porch dog we dreamed of, even though he would prefer to be in our lap!  He just doesn't understand the fact that he weighs around 120 pounds and he just doesn't fit on a person's lap anymore!  He is reserved, never making a sound unless something is amiss in "his" house, then it is katy bar the doors and he won't stop letting us know until we correct the problem!
He stands 29 inches at the shoulder and if you were to look at the picture used as the bloodhound standard, you would see Max, forever our baby!

We love him and feed and play with him on a daily basis! We are also working with him on learning to trail and track, his nose is always working! Along with his large heart of gold ... he wants to be loved on always!

Health Clearances

Max turned 2 on March 11, 2011 and he has had his OFA testing performed and passed them. You will not find his elbow results, as we found that his left elbow had a chip on it from his flight from over the ocean to join us and required surgery to remove, we had him tested and can show you the results should you want to see them, the  right elbow was fine. You can go to www.offa.org to review all the other results.

Max was tested for brucellosis in 2014 and results were negative.

Any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us for clarification on his elbows.
