Ruthie

Ruthie ... was Levi’s full sister and who we were looking for when we found him. We fell in love with her instantly, lots of wrinkles and a curious personality at only 6 weeks, exploring every nook and cranny of the yard. Ruthie was a solid mass of muscle, can run like the wind and had a nose that can find just about anything.  We call her our “Turtle” hound, she has uncovered and brought us at least, a dozen turtles found in their 3 acres fenced play area! She doesn’t want to hurt them but just carries them in her mouth.  They are the prize of the day around the other hounds and she really struts her stuff when she has one, that is the way we know what is hiding inside those jaws! She is also a lover but a quick sniff and a rub is all she wants before she joins the others.  But if you will come by with the lead and harness, she will be your best friend for life ... she loves trailing! Where Levi is a talker, Ruthie is quiet but watchful! She loves trying out all three of the water pools, running and sliding into them jumping from one to the next then running full force to the sprinkler!  If she spots another hound along the way, she will ever so slowly walk towards them until she is close enough to spring through the air on them, like a panther! She weighed in at 105 at one year.

At just short of 5 years, we had to make the painful decision of whether to let her go over the rainbow bridge or not . . she had such heavy skin and wrinkles that she couldn't see very well and that caused her to run into things and she was becoming blind in both eyes and alot of allergies/ear issues and that caused her to be deaf. After a very hard couple weeks, the decision was made not to let her suffer any longer and we said good bye to one of the most loving hounds in the world. The kennel will never be the same!

Litters

Ruthie had an A.I. done in early July 2013 with Max and handed us a darling female puppy on the morning of September 3rd. We have moved the pup over to Mocha's litter as Ruthie developed a slight infection and couldn't feed her baby very well. We are very excited to have Lady Ella come into the world!

Health Clearances

Ruthie has passed her health tests with flying colors and ready to move into motherhood.  She loves playing with puppies, so she should be a wonderful mother ... we can hardly wait for that day!  If you would like to see the actual results of the tests, please feel free to go to the Orthopedic website www.offa.org and enter her name in the search area. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask us.
